The land of cowboys and wine
Known for its vineyards, olive groves, and wild west spirit, Paso Robles is a great place to unwind. The quaint downtown area has plenty of antique shops, restaurants, tasting rooms, and boutiques to explore. Head out to the Adelaida District to sample wines among the stunning scenery of vineyards and rolling hills. There are dozens of wineries to choose from, and tastings are affordable and oftentimes don’t require a reservation. Every summer, the California Mid-State Fair is held in Paso Robles, and features top musical acts, carnival rides and games, exhibits, and more.
How to Get There: The Amtrak Thruway bus provides a guaranteed connection to and from Paso Robles at the Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Stations. There are three trips in each direction from Santa Barbara every day, and the trip takes approximately three hours. There are two northbound trips and one southbound trip from San Luis Obispo every day, and the trip takes under one hour.
